Terry was born in Athens, Greece. She started taking music lessons at the age of 12, but her first experiences with singing began even earlier as a member of local choirs. In 2004 she was accepted at the Music Department of the Ionian University in Corfu. As a student at the Ionian University, she was trained as an improvisational musician and jazz studies came into the focus of her attention. After graduating in 2010, she won both the Fulbright Scholarship and the Onassis Foundation Scholarship for continuing her studies in New York City, at Queens College / Aaron Copland School of Music. In 2012 she was a semifinalist for the International Jazz Competition “Voicingers” that took place in Zori, Poland. In 2013 she earned her MA degree in Jazz Vocal Performance and continued to work in New York City where she performed in different venues including “Cornelia St Cafe”, “Le Poisson Rouge”, “Swing 46”, “Silvana” and many more.
After her return from NYC, Terry has been performing among exceptional jazz musicians at some of the most well-known venues in and outside Athens. Memorable moments include performances with guitarist Daan Kleijn at the Jazz Panorama of the Onassis Cultural Center, with the Athens Big Band at Pallas Theater, with Dimitris Kalantzis / Ionian Reunion at Athens Concert Hall, with Vasilis Rakopoulos and Mimis Plessas at Paros Jazz Festival, with Dimitris Kalantzis and the ERT contemporary orchestra at Stavros Niarchos Foundation, with jazz pianist Nikolas Anadolis at 5o Jazz sto Parko. She also participated in the latest record of jazz pianist Dimitris Kalantzis “Χθες το βράδυ”, arranging popular Greek songs of the 40’s and 50’s in jazz versions, a collaboration between the ERT contemporary orchestra and more than 30 musicians and singers such as Aleka Kanellidou and Elli Paspala. Terry is currently teaching modern vocals and improvisation at Nakas Music School in Athens and had been a guest jazz vocal instructor at Ionian University.
